2017 season to open with a production of The Addams Family

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., May 1, 2017 - Circle Theatre, Grand Rapids’ go-to destination for  exceptional theatrical arts in an intimate setting, will open their 65th Main Stage season with a production The Addams Family starting on Thursday, May 4 at 7:30 p.m. inside the Performing Arts Center on the campus of Aquinas College.

Under the direction and choreography of Jolene Frankey, the 2017 Audience Choice Musical based on the comic strip characters of the same name, features an original story and it’s every father’s nightmare. Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family – a man her parents have never met. If that weren’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before – keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s ‘normal’ boyfriend and his parents.

“We’re beyond thrilled to be celebrating our 65th season this year and to present this production as the opening show of the season. ,” says Lynne Brown Tepper, Executive Director of Circle Theatre. “The 2017 Play Selection committee thoroughly enjoyed it and were thrilled when it ended up as the top pick for the 2017 Audience Choice Musical.
