Commemorate the holidays with Blandford at the Annual Pioneer Holiday Celebration

Grand Rapids, Michigan – Community members throughout West Michigan are invited to attend Blandford Nature Center’s Annual Pioneer Holiday Celebration on Saturday, December 9th, 2017 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The celebration includes festive traditions and holiday favorites for guests of all ages to enjoy, the perfect way to kick off the holiday season in Grand Rapids.

“Winter is a beautiful season and with the holidays approaching, Blandford can show how experiences in nature is fun and engaging year-round,” said Renee Baker, Community Programs Manager.

Several activities will be available to visitors such as cookie decorating, creating applesauce ornaments, candle dipping, making stick gnomes, cookie making, marshmallow roasting, snowsnake games outdoors and more. Visitors are also encouraged to tour the historical buildings on site and explore life as an early pioneer in the one-room schoolhouse, log cabin and blacksmith shop.

Guests can see the animals in the wildlife center and at the farm, including our newly acquired Nigerian Dwarf Goat named Gimli. As usual, the trails will be open for exploration plus information on how Blandford memberships is a great chance for year-round family fun.

“We will also offer traditional holiday concessions available such as coffee, hot cocoa, and roasted marshmallows free of charge,” Baker said.

The event is open to the public with admission fees of $5 for members and $8 for non-members. Children 2 years and younger will be admitted for free. For registration and more event details, visit
