Elegantly Chic and Charismatic Italian Restaurant to Open on Monroe Center
Grand Rapids, Mi - 14 March 2017 -
MAZZO, an exciting new modern Italian restaurant will open in the previously occupied Tre Cugini space at 122 Monroe Center NW, in downtown Grand Rapids.
Mazzo is owned by local restaurateur Faro Uccello and operated under the Uccello’s Hospitality Group umbrella, boasting General Manager Christine Gill, while the culinary team will be headed by Chef Clark Frain. Ms. Gill previously owned and operated The Sierra Room and Opus 1894 in downtown Grand Rapids and RiverHouse Ada in Ada, Michigan. Chef Frain was most recently Executive Chef at Butch’s Dry Dock in Holland, Michigan, spent time with Norwegian Cruise Lines, and over eight years as a Chef with The Gilmore Collection in Grand Rapids.
Special attention will be given to the handmade pastas, local ingredients, and seafood with a focus on “crudo” (meaning “raw” in Italian), featuring a raw bar that will display fresh oysters. A wood-fire pizza oven will also be visible from the renovated space that has two double-sided fireplaces, a floor-to-ceiling wine case, and interior furnishings with sleek design lines juxtaposed against the exposed brick walls and raw wood tables. An added room gives private dining options, as well as seating in the front of the restaurant with a view of Rosa Parks Circle.
The four story atrium space of the Ledyard Building, The Atrium at Mazzo, will be hosting large affairs, wedding receptions and partner with many Grand Rapids area organizations to provide a unique gathering experience for VIP events.
Opening is set for Spring 2017.
