Grand Rapids community invited to be a part of the mannequin challenge video

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Feb. 23, 2017 – Today, the nation’s only community-wide festival of laughter, Gilda’s LaughFest, announced its plans for the festival’s annual Community Kickoff, slated for March 9 at 5:30 p.m.  LaughFest invites the community to don their yellow or LaughFest gear and join in the celebration as the organization records West Michigan’s biggest mannequin challenge at Rosa Parks Circle in downtown Grand Rapids.

“We had a great time doing the mannequin challenge for our ticket package sales, and thought doing it again on a larger scale would be a fun way to start LaughFest 2017,” said Joanne Roehm, Director of Strategic Initiatives and LaughFest. “We’re excited to have the support of Downtown Grand Rapids Inc., the Grand Rapids Art Museum, Deep End Films, Brian Kelly Photography and the City of Grand Rapids to make this year’s kickoff a success.”

LaughFest will be giving door prizes to the first 100 participants to register for the event. Brian Kelly will be taking a group shot of participants at the iconic Rosa Parks Circle at 6 p.m. before Deep End Films records the mannequin challenge video. Following the filming will be opening night events and activities including a free Preview Show at Dr. Grin’s at The B.O.B, Laughter is Good Medicine at MSU, and Not From Here/Crawlspace Eviction at Dog Story Theater. LaughFest Central will be open during the event, and new this year, food trucks will be on site.
