Harry Potter comes to Grand Rapids Symphony stage!

Grand Rapids Pops screens full-length ‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone’ in DeVos Hall



Media are invited to attend the Grand Rapids Symphony’s performance of Harry Potter in Concert featuring Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, the first film in the series of eight Harry Potter Films. All three performances are sold out.


The 2001 film that introduced Harry Potter and his friends to the cinema will be screened in HD in its entirety on a 40-foot screen with all the dialogue and all of the sound effects. But John Williams’ entire score will be performed live by your Grand Rapids Symphony!


The lobbies of DeVos Hall will be decorated in trappings of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Guests can take photos with a Sorting Hat for free at a photo station. Free wands will be handed out to the first 500 at each show.


Butterbeer, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, will be sold. Harry Potter merchandise also will be available for purchase.


Patrons are invited to come in costume to each show.

About the Grand Rapids Symphony
Organized in 1930, the Grand Rapids Symphony is nationally recognized for the quality of its concerts and educational programs. Led by Music Director Marcelo Lehninger, Principal Pops Conductor Bob Bernhardt and Associate Conductor John Varineau, nine concert series are presented, featuring a wide range of music and performance styles. More than 400 performances are given each year, touching the lives of some 200,000, nearly half of whom are students, senior citizens and people with disabilities all reached through extensive education and community service programs. Affiliated organizations include the Grand Rapids Symphony Chorus; Grand Rapids Youth Symphony and Classical Orchestra; and Grand Rapids Symphony Youth Choruses.
