Participate in the 175th Anniversary of Grand Rapids

The City of Grand Rapids turns 175 years old on May 2, 2025, and it’s gearing up for a year-long celebration of all things GR.

The City is encouraging local businesses, organizations and community leaders to play an active role in the celebration. Host a 175th anniversary party of your own. Incorporate the anniversary logo into apparel, accessories or other merchandise. Fly an anniversary banner at your workplace. Add the logo to your website and other communication materials. Your imagination – and the city’s Brand Guidelines – are the only limit.

A special 175th Anniversary logo has been created, and the City allows and encourages everyone to use the logo to promote the celebration in a positive light. The logo is licensed under Creative Commons and is FREE to use in any of these formats.

Share Your Plans

Our 175GR  Anniversary page and our Events Calendar will list all the events and activities tied to the celebration – including yours, if the public is invited. Be sure to submit your information to us as soon as you firm up the details.

Show Your Community Pride

The City is working to ensure that the entire community can get involved in the celebration. This will be a high-profile, high-engagement, year-long event you can be proud to be part of.

Grand to Know

A 175th anniversary is known as a dodransbicentennial (in case anyone asks). Want to incorporate some historical aspects into your anniversary plans? Check our History of Grand Rapids page and the City’s Facts and History page for idea starters.
