Division is also home to an increasing number of trendy thrift and vintage shops.

Consisting of four distinct, walkable business districts just a mile or so east of downtown Grand Rapids, Uptown is the city’s hippest shopping destination. Local artists and entrepreneurs offer a wide range of goods – antiques, books, candy, clothing, home décor, plants and so much more – in shops carved out of historic buildings on tree-lined streets. The annual Uptown Shop Hop during the holiday season transports shoppers between districts via trolley to knock out their shopping lists with memorable gifts.

Eastown is an Uptown business district spanning 70 square blocks of cool, locally owned shops, restaurants, nightlife and entertainment venues. Shop for art at Gallery 154, candy at Sticky Fingers, gifts at Rebel, used records at Vinyl Alchemy, used books and comics at Argos, and metaphysical supplies at Spirit Dreams. That’s just a hint of what fresh, funky, fabulous Eastown has in store for you!

East Fulton

The Uptown business district of East Fulton is home to nearly 50 locally owned antique stores, galleries, specialty shops, salons and restaurants – and the city’s longest-running farmers market, the century-old Fulton Street Market. All the establishments are within a mile of each other on Fulton Street, the main thoroughfare out of downtown Grand Rapids.

East Hills

Known as the heart of Uptown, East Hills includes 70+ local boutiques, lively restaurants and obliging service businesses. Many of them are clustered on Cherry Street, whose red brick road, first installed in 1901, welcomes shoppers with a touch of nostalgia. Heritage Hill

One of the nation’s largest and best-preserved urban historic districts, Heritage Hill is known for its majestic homes dating back to the 1840s.
