The 2023 debut of the Christkindl Markt at the Grand Rapids Downtown Market was a huge success – and organizers are already hard at work planning for 2024.
The 2024 Christkindl Markt will once again bring the magic of a traditional European-style Christmas village to downtown Grand Rapids. You can count on shopping for one-of-a-kind gifts, savoring delicious food & drink, and soaking up festive family fun in an expansive outdoor space beautifully decorated for the holidays.

36 huts will feature an array of vendors selling one-of-a-kind gifts and food treats.

2023 Christkindl Markt At a Glance
The Christkindl Markt dazzled visitors with 26 days and nights of Christmas lights and holiday bites, running Wednesdays through Sundays from Nov. 17 - Dec. 23, 2023. Visitors enjoyed:
- 35+ outdoor vendor booths filled with artisan food, handmade gifts and more
- Stage and strolling entertainment, from carolers to Santa & Mrs. Claus
- Outdoor curling sheets for playing the sport that originated in medieval Scotland
- Private chalets accommodating up to 8 people for food and fellowship
- A German-style beverage hall serving Glühwein (glow wine) and other hot beverages, plus a special beer brewed exclusively for the event by Brewery Vivant
- Additional shopping inside the Grand Rapids Downtown Market, where 20+ artisan food vendors offer delectable cuisine and specialty food products

It looks like the Christkindl Market has already taken its place among the beloved holiday events West Michigan visitors and residents look forward to every year, right up there with the Christmas and Holiday Traditions exhibition at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park, the Christmas Lite Show at LMCU Ballpark, the Downtown Grand Rapids Tree Lighting Ceremony and Grand Rapids Ballet’s The Nutcracker.
