One of the joys of meeting in a new city is the opportunity to explore local shops and discover items you won’t find at home. With more than 100 retail destinations in our compact downtown, Grand Rapids makes it easy to slip away on a lunch break or after the meeting day to browse for everything from art and clothing to gifts and souvenirs.

We’ve compiled a list of 50+ shops located a half mile or less from the intersection of Monroe Avenue and Lyon Street, at the south end of DeVos Place Convention Center. You can easily walk to them, keeping an eye out for the city’s many visual delights – murals, Community Legends sculptures, painted ticket booths, holiday lights, electrical boxes, and sculptures & historic buildings – along the way.

Many shops are located along FREE bus routes – look for the pink DASH Shuttle – and can be accessed via rideshare services if you prefer not to walk.

We’ve listed operating hours for the shops below but they’re subject to change without notice, so it’s a good idea to check store websites and social media pages before you go.
