Downtown Grand Rapids
CityFlatsHotel
Grand Rapids’ first boutique hotel of the modern era, CItyFlatsHotel was opened in 2011 along bustling Monroe Center Street in the heart of downtown. This is where “eco-chic meets boutique,” as the five-story building – originally constructed in the late 1800s – was renovated from the ground up according to the latest sustainability standards. In fact, it was just the second LEED Gold-certified hotel in the state of Michigan, joining a long list of Grand Rapids buildings achieving globally recognized Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design recognition.
Each of the hotel’s 48 rooms is as unique as the guest who enjoys them, though all feature sustainable cork flooring, energy-efficient lighting and plumbing, eco-friendly bamboo sheets and more to create a perfect balance of comfort and sustainability. A ground floor gastropub, CitySēn Lounge, invites guests (and the public) to sip, savor and socialize, while an onsite beauty salon, The Parlour, offers a variety of pampering servicers.
CityFlatsHotel is within a 10-minute walk of 200+ downtown restaurants, shops, cultural sites and entertainment venues – including Rosa Parks Circle, the Grand Rapids Art Museum and numerous restaurants and shops, all located on the same half-mile stretch of Monroe Center Street.
The Finnley Hotel
Also on Monroe Center Street, just a few hundred feet from CityFlats, is The Finnley Hotel. Named for the developer’s daughter, The Finnley features five guest rooms adorned with brick walls and sparkling custom tile bathrooms. Each room features luxury furnishings – including handcrafted king beds – plus a mini fridge, espresso machine, artisan décor and custom touches like a vintage record player with a selection of records.
For those who value privacy over a personal touch, The Finnley offers a contactless check-in process. Guests receive a code to access the building and their room prior to arrival. However, a 24-hour concierge is available should you need anything.

Bridge Street Entertainment District
The BlueJay Hotel
Historic Bridge Street, just across the Grand River from downtown Grand Rapids, has undergone an astonishing revitalization in the past decade. Once abandoned or underutilized buildings have been converted to trendy new restaurants, breweries and cocktail lounges, making it one of the city’s hottest entertainment destinations.
The BlueJay Hotel, opened in 2024, occupies a once-blighted two-story space in the midst of all the activity. Each of its six rooms retains some of the building’s original brick walls while incorporating modern amenities such as king-size beds, 50” TVs and private bathrooms. There are five guest rooms on the second floor and an ADA-accessible suite on the first floor.
You can rent an individual room or the entire building, which accommodates up to 12 guests and offers seating for 36 in the ground-floor event space and outdoor patio.
Like The Finnley, The BlueJay offers a contactless check-in process.

Downtown Ada
The Ada Hotel
Ada, a scenic community 15 minutes east of downtown Grand Rapids, features a compact city center bustling with unique shops, restaurants, events and beautiful greenspaces. While many of the buildings have been erected in the last decade, their designs evoke the charm of an earlier era.
The same is true of The Ada Hotel, which opened in 2024 with a considerable nod to the original Ada Hotel that served travelers from around 1870-1942. An illuminated map of 1870s Ada greets visitors at the front desk, historical photos dot the second- and third-floor walls, and the names of two onsite restaurants reach into the past – The Post Tavern recalls the original Ada Trading Post of the late 1800s and Rix is a tribute to Rix Robinson, known as the founding father of Ada.
Yet guests will find every modern amenity here, from custom lounge seating and floor-to-ceiling windows in the lobby, to a second-level atrium and fitness center, to the 36 one-bed king and two-bed queen rooms, each featuring a one-of-a-kind design, crafted materials, and artful details. Some rooms are equipped with bunk beds for families, others with stationary bikes and/or balconies.
