The gift shops in Grand Rapids’ local attractions offer one-of-a-kind items perfect for unique gift giving all year round. Many of them will be open for Museum Store Sunday, an annual global event held this year on November 30, 2025.
If you’re on a tight schedule and don’t have time to tour local attractions (at a discount!) with Attraction Pass GR, don’t worry, because many attractions allow guests to access their gift shops without having to purchase admission to the attraction.
By shopping at these gift shops, you are supporting the missions of these cultural attractions, many of which feature locally-made products. Remember to check with each location on open hours before you visit.

Grand Rapids African American Museum and Archives (GRAAMA)
Now located at 41 Sheldon Ave. SE, the gift shop at GRAAMA carries a wide variety of Afrocentric items. The new 30,000 sq. ft. space is 15 times larger than the previous Monroe Ave. location.
In addition to its own collection of GRAAMA logo mugs, t-shirts, backpacks and bags, the gift shop offer handmade clothing, jewelry, dolls and more from local artists. During the holidays, the GRAAMA store stocks Afrocentric holiday cards, calendars, Kwanzaa items, toys, games, and art to get you in the spirit. With prices ranging from a few dollars to art pieces worth hundreds of dollars, there is something for everyone. And many purchases count as tax-deductible donations.

GRPM invites all its visitors to "be curious," so it makes sense their gift shop is aptly named the Curiosity Shop.
If you're looking for a gift that's educational and fun, you'll likely find it at the Curiosity Shop. The Gift Shop at John Ball Zoo (Open Seasonally)
John Ball Zoo is also home to a crowd-pleasing retail outlet, The Gift Shop at John Ball Zoo. The shop is filled with a variety of locally and internationally-made items for kids and adults.
Many products pay homage to different cultures and animals. T-shirts, souvenir cups, key chains, hand-crafted items made by Kenyan tribesmen, handmade purses from India and beautifully carved marble animal figurines are just some of the items you'll find here. Many are eco-friendly and fair trade certified. There is also a great collection of toys and stuffed animals – including likenesses of Hugo, the very first pygmy hippo calf ever born at the zoo, who came into the world Sept. 3, 2025.
As an added bonus, John Ball Zoo members receive a 20% discount on purchases from The Gift Shop at John Ball Zoo. The gift shop is open during the zoo's operating season, which generally runs March-November.
Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum
From pencils, puzzles and apparel to golf gear, ornaments and copies of Gerald R. Ford’s autobiography signed by Ford himself, the Museum Store at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum is a must-shop destination for the history and politics buffs on your list. You can also shop the online store and have your gifts shipped directly.
GVSU Laker Store(s)
With more than 22,000 students, Grand Valley State University is West Michigan’s largest institute of higher education. It operates the Laker Store, a retail shop filled with branded clothing and gifts, at 101 Monroe Center St. NW in downtown Grand Rapids. There are also Laker Stores at GVSU’s Allendale campus and downtown GR campus, as well as online.
The Spark at Kendall College
Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University is a prestigious art and design school founded in 1928 and located in downtown Grand Rapids. The Spark is the college’s retail store, which offers a wide range of curated gifts, art prints, décor, stationery, jewelry and art supplies, much of it handmade by KCAD alumni and current students. Shop in person Monday through Saturday, or online anytime.

If you’re staying overnight, don’t forget to visit your hotel’s gift shop, too. Plaza Essentials in the Amway Grand Plaza, Curio Collection by Hilton hotel and JW Marketplace in the JW Marriott Grand Rapids hotel offer goodies that go beyond the traditional gift shop items.
If you’re traveling through the Gerald R. Ford International Airport, take some time to peruse the Grand Rapids Magazine Travel Store for made-in Michigan mementos. It’s conveniently located after TSA check-in.
A number of local breweries offer logo apparel and accessories for purchase (in addition to beer to go). The Company Store at Founders Brewing Co. is one well-stocked example.
Sports fans will want to shop The Zone at Van Andel Arena, the official pro shop for the Grand Rapids Griffins hockey team and the Grand Rapids Rise women’s volleyball team, and the CapSized Shop at LMCU Ballpark, home of the West Michigan Whitecaps baseball team.
The one-stop entertainment hub known as Studio Park – featuring a nine-screen movie theater, concert venue and multiple dining options – also houses The Arts Marketplace, a gift shop stocked with high-quality art, clothing, furniture and more from local minority creators.
ArtPrize, the world’s most attended public art event, takes place every fall in downtown Grand Rapids – and every fall, ArtPrize features a brick-and-mortar store where you can shop for branded merchandise. Make plans for ArtPrize 2026 (Sept. 17 - Oct 3). Until then, you can shop online.
World of Winter, American’s largest winter festival, takes over the public spaces of downtown Grand Rapids from early January to early March each year (Jan. 9 - March 1, 2026). You can buy WoW merchandise at Courage & Soar, a downtown GR gift boutique.
