Carlos joined Experience Grand Rapids in 2024 to shoulder a diverse slate of responsibilities: managing convention sales and group tour marketing efforts, overseeing the development of written tourism-focused content, managing the EXGR editorial calendar, and serving as a liaison between the marketing and convention sales & service teams. (Good thing he’s got broad shoulders.) He’s synergizing our strengths to create more cohesive and effective outcomes for all of our clients.

Carlos came to EXGR from GR’s Calvin University, where he managed the advertising calendar, social media, and event marketing and communication as Program Coordinator for the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship. He earned a B.A. in Business Marketing and Music from Calvin, and he will soon complete his M.A. in Media & Strategic Communication at the school.

Bio Bits

  • Loves the Pollo Mostarda (roasted chicken stuffed with goat cheese and pancetta) at Palio Ristorante – “such a great combination of flavors!”
  • Is partial to Donkey Taqueria’s Guava Margarita – “my all-time favorite fruit tastes amazing paired with tequila.”
  • Enjoys sampling the food, music, and art of diverse cultures at the city’s many cultural festivals and celebrations.

As a trained musician, Carlos gives the local music scene a big thumbs up – and, in fact, he’s part of it, having performed with the Grand Rapids Symphony Chorus and now singing with VoxGR, a professional chamber choir.
