If you’re looking for a place to hold your next family, school or military reunion – or any get-together of far-flung friends and relations – you should consider Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Easy To Get To
Grand Rapids is centrally located, about halfway between Chicago and Detroit, and within a day’s drive of half the U.S. population. Our Gerald R. Ford International Airport offers daily nonstop flights to/from 30+ cities across the country, and it’s been named one of the easiest, friendliest, cleanest and overall best airports in North America.
Easy to Afford
Your reunion attendees’ money will stretch further in Grand Rapids, which is consistently recognized as one of America’s most economical cities – as in 2023, when Travel + Leisure ranked us the #2 Most Beautiful & Affordable City to Live in the U.S. Our lower cost of living means you’ll enjoy Midwest value in lodging, food and entertainment. We have hotels, restaurants and attractions for every budget and taste.
World-Class Fun
Affordable doesn’t mean boring, however. Grand Rapids is jam-packed with world-class activities and events to rival much larger cities. We’re Beer City, USA, home to 40+ breweries and the Beer City Brewsader® digital passport, and America’s Craft Beverage Capital, with cideries, coffee roasters, distilleries, meaderies and wineries galore. We’re also a Top 20 U.S. Foodie City and the first in the nation to offer a food + drink flight pass: Flights of Flavor.
Our Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park is America’s #1 Sculpture Park and we’re 1 of the 10 Best Cities in the U.S. to see Amazing Art (both per USA Today). We host the world’s most visited art event, ArtPrize, in fall every year, and the Midwest’s largest winter festival, World of Winter, each January through early March.
Downtown Grand Rapids boasts 200+ restaurants, shops, museums, nightclubs and entertainment venues within a 10-minute walk, offering your group endless opportunities for clean, safe, big-city fun. If your attendees are into the outdoors, we have 30+ golf courses, dozens of lakes and rivers, hundreds of miles of hiking/biking trails and more than 170 parks within minutes of the city center. Plus, the sugar-sand beaches of Lake Michigan are just 30-45 minutes away.

Military Reunions
Grand Rapids has always been a city that honors those who serve, and we are privileged to host a wide variety of military reunions. Veterans and their families enjoy visiting our Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum, America’s most entertaining presidential museum, Veterans Memorial Park, with stone pillars honoring WWI, WWII, Korean War and Vietnam War vets, and the veteran-owned HAS HEART coffee shop, all in downtown GR. Less than an hour away, the USS Silversides Museum includes a tour of a WWII submarine, and the LST 393 Veterans Museum welcomes visitors aboard a historic warship.
