Downtown Street Party

The Grand Rapids Ball Drop is the biggest party of them all, as thousands gather on the streets of downtown Grand Rapids to enjoy food trucks, live music, activities, fireworks and the countdown to 2020. Many restaurants and bars will be open, too. It all starts at 5pm Dec. 31.

Kid’s New Year’s Eve

You don’t have to wait until evening to get in the spirit of celebration – this is a perfect day to visit soon-to-close holiday events:

  • Breton Village Train display at Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum (9 am-5 pm)
  • Metro Health Christmas & Holiday Traditions at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture (9 am-5 pm)

Kids Night Out & The Mud Room is a creative way to say goodbye to 2020 – kids will create their own Snowflake Plate.

Watch the Grand Rapids Griffins hockey team play the Chicago Wolves on New Year’s Eve – and stick around after the game for an indoor fireworks show and open skating on the Van Andel Arena ice rink.
