A fizzy, fruity mimosa is the true test of a good brunch, if you ask us. (No offense to Bloody Mary fan, of course.) Cool, crisp and refreshing, mimosa are a sparkling start – or middle or end – of the day.
We asked our social media followers to share their favorite local mimosa destinations, and these restaurants and bars that bubbled to the top.
Sundance Grill & Bar
Two Sundance Grill locations – downtown and 28th St. – serve breakfast all day, every day, along with an extensive lunch and dinner menu, and inspired cocktails. That’s made them a destination for local brunch aficionados since the 28th St. location opened its doors in 1985.
In addition to the standard OJ mimosa, Sundance offers flavors like pomegranate, blood orange and prickly pear, all blended with Michigan-made champagne. Can’t decide? Get a mimosa flight! Check in using the Flights of Flavor app when you order the flight to earn points toward fun rewards.
Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen and Bar
The scratch-made Southern-style dishes at downtown GR’s Tupelo Honey are served all day long, so it’s always a good time for a mimosa. Choose from such flavors at blueberry lavender, strawberries & cream and Southern hospitality (featuring peach and pineapple) in addition to the traditional mimosa made with OJ and Blue Ridge Bubbly sparkling wine from Denver’s The Infinite Monkey Theorem winery. Order a mimosa flight to try all four flavors!
Brunch House
This upscale breakfast/brunch/lunch place just opened its doors in April 2024, but it’s already gained a following for its mimosas – due in part, no doubt, to the Brunch House in Muskegon perfecting the recipes over the past four years. You’ll find a variety of mimosa flavors here, all crafted with house-made simple syrups, plus fun seasonal variations. They offer a mimosa flight, too. (We’re detecting a theme here.)
Brunch House is located in southeast Grand Rapids, just down the street from Forest Hills Fine Arts Center.
SpeakEZ Lounge
You know a speakeasy-style eatery knows how to do cocktails right. Mimosas are just one of SpeakEZ’s signature cocktails, and they’re particularly popular during Saturday and Sunday brunch, served from 10am-2pm. Opt for classic orange juice and bubbles, or substitute pineapple, cranberry, grapefruit or pomegranate-cranberry for your fruit flavor.
This downtown restaurant also offers Mimosa Bottle Service during brunch – you’ll get a 750mL bottle of Cava sparkling wine delivered to your table along with a choice of two juices.
Social Misfits
This downtown destination for elevated sweet and savory waffles, coffee and cocktails offers a choice of mimosa flavors like orange, strawberry, peach, grapefruit, pineapple and cranberry. Social Misfits squeezes the juices in-house for the peak of freshness.
Mimosas are available every day (and all day), but they seem to be even more satisfying on the weekends.
