A fizzy, fruity mimosa is the true test of a good brunch, if you ask us. (No offense to Bloody Mary fans, of course). Cool, crisp and refreshing, mimosa are a sparkling start – or middle or end – of the day.

We asked our social media followers to share their favorite local mimosa destinations, and these are the restaurants and bars that bubbled to the top.

Sundance Grill & Bar

Two Sundance Grill locations – downtown  and 28th St.  – serve breakfast all day, every day, along with an extensive lunch and dinner menu, and inspired cocktails. That’s made them a destination for local brunch aficionados since the 28th St. location opened its doors in 1985.

In addition to the standard OJ mimosa, Sundance offers flavors like pomegranate, blood orange and prickly pear, all blended with Michigan-made champagne. Can’t decide? Get a mimosa flight! Check in using the Flights of Flavor app when you order the flight to earn points toward fun rewards.

Matchbox Diner & Drinks

Located in GR’s Uptown neighborhood, Matchbox Diner & Drinks offers all-day breakfasts, mile-high sandwiches, juicy burgers, comfort food entrees and a full bar. There are a number of standard bubbly cocktails on the menu, including a Sunrise Mimosa made featuring bubbles, orange juice, Parna liqueur, mango and grenadine; and a Supermosa made with Mawby “Sex” brut rosé, orange juice and Deep Eddy peach vodka.

You can also build your own mimosa here, choosing one of five “bubbles” – including a non-alcoholic sparkling wine – and up to two of these flavors: orange, grapefruit, cranberry, pomegranate, strawberry, mango, peach, pineapple and wildberry. Choose up to three flavors if you order a bottle rather than a glass of bubbles. Get half off BYO mimosas from 7-8am Mondays-Fridays.

San Chez Bistro

Serving downtown GR since 1992, San Chez Bistro offers a blend of authentic European, Mediterranean and Latin American cuisines. The eatery specializes in tapas – sharable Spanish-style dishes – which are offered via a regular menu and separate brunch menu, both served seven days a week.

Mimosas here are made with Spanish cava (sparkling wine) and your choice of orange, guava, grapefruit, pineapple or cranberry fruit juice. The Mistinguett Mimosa features organic cava and the Top Shelf Mimosa uses the highest quality cava. You can also get a bottle of house cava with your choice of three fruit juices to mix yourself.
